

Van Harold Peterson, Jr., age 73, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at home. Van was under the care of the Hernando Pasco Hospice Foundation, and surrounded by family when he lost his battle with cancer. Van was born in Brooksville on December 13, 1941, to the Late Van Harold Peterson, Sr. & Dorothy Livonia (Roberts) Peterson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra K. (Ratts) Peterson; Daughters Vanette Peterson of Tampa, FL and Susan Elliott, and husband Russell Elliott, of Melbourne, FL. Van also leaves behind 5 grandchildren; grandsons: Randy Martin of North Dakota and Steven Martin of Brandon, FL. Granddaughters: Tori Elliott, Hayley Elliott, and Kamryn Elliott all of Melbourne, FL and 5 great-grandchildren. Van will also be greatly missed by his sister, JoAnn Seles and her husband Julius Seles, of Brooksville; nephews: Marty Seles and Erwin Seles; and niece, Barbara Mulkey, as well as sister/brother-in-law, Nelda and Richard Caldwell of Youngstown, FL. Baptist by faith, Van was a member of the South Kings Avenue Baptist Church in Brandon, FL. Taking care of his family was always priority one, but Van’s other interests included classic cars, riding motorcycles, boating, camping, and traveling. As a hobby, he enjoyed building and running remote controlled boats and planes. At Van’s request, there will not be a formal service. However, an informal memorial will be held at the family home in Brooksville on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 3pm – 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Van’s name to the HPH Hospice Foundation.
