Maria Zita Freitas Veloza

Zita was born in Madeira, Portugal, on January 24, 1935. She later bravely immigrated to Canada with her late husband, João David Veloza, and built a life rooted in family, sacrifice, and love. Everything she did was with the hope of giving her children the best life possible, and in that, she succeeded.

Zita was the epitome of strength and resilience. If you knew her, you knew this. She had a warmth, kindness, and purity of heart that was felt by those around her. She was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren, who will carry her memory, her strength, and her love with them always.

She is survived by her four children, Ana (Donald), Gizelda, Zeke (Sara), and Michael (Cristina); her grandchildren, Adam, Cody, Mia, Brandon, Alexis, and Kyra; as well as extended family and friends in Canada and Portugal.

Though her absence will be deeply felt, she will be forever cherished and never forgotten.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at La Maison Darche Services funéraires, 7679 Taschereau Blvd., Brossard, Quebec, J4Y 1A2.
