Matthew Aguba

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Matthew Aguba, who left us at the age of 46 on April 20, 2025, doing what he loved most. He is survived by his mother, Lolita; partner, Nina; step daughter, Alana Sky; brother, Christopher (Sonia); nieces, Alyssa & Amaya and his dog (Loulou). He is now reunited with his father, Romeo, who passed on before him.

Born on May 11, 1978, in Montreal and raised in Brossard, Matt grew up in a loving home as a caring son, cherished brother and beloved nephew, surrounded by cousins who felt like siblings and close friends who became like family.

From a young age, Matthew was a natural athlete. Whether it was basketball, soccer, weightlifting, cycling, or running, he excelled in every discipline he pursued. Once he set his sights on a goal, he wasn’t just determined to meet it, he was determined to surpass it. That drive and discipline not only showed up in sports but also in how he mentored and coached his clients.

He was a natural leader and motivator, with a magnetic charm, a great sense of humor, and a heart big enough to hold everyone around him. Determined, kind, and endlessly positive, Matt had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged. He became a fitness trainer at VibeCycle, where he flourished into the best version of himself. His legacy lives on in every life he has impacted and in the confidence he sparked in others.

He will be deeply missed.

The burial will proceed after the funeral and will be attended by close family and friends.
