Alicia was born in a ranch in Villa Nueva, Brownsville, Texas to Carlos Montero & Nieves Garza Montero. She loved learning to read, write, fashion design, and playing sports but her education was abruptly interrupted when her father died and in order to help her mother and siblings at the ranch she had no choice but to assist with harvesting crops like cotton, okra, corn, pumpkin and squash. As a teenager, Alicia-Licha went to work at The Vanitilden Bakery and then later applied and was hired at Dorfman Jewelers. It was at Dorfman Jewelers, which was located downtown across from Anthony's Clothing store that she met the love of her life, Agustin Santoscoy, Sr. She married him and became a most devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother & business woman. For most of their married life Alicia & Agustin Sr. worked diligently to successfully establish their American dream of Santoscoy Enterprises. Alicia was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, active in the US Post Office Ladies Auxiliary and a political supporter of the US Republican Party. Mrs. Santoscoy's favorite memories were when she reminisced about dancing to Tejano, Guapango, Cumbia and Mariachi music with her one and only true love of 66 years during New Years, Charro Days, weddings and quinceaneras.
Mrs. Alicia M. Santoscoy was preceded in death by her husband Agustin Santoscoy Sr., her daughter Edna Santoscoy, grandson Ivan Manjarrez, both parents Carlos & Nieves Montero, her sisters Lencha (Rafael) DeLeon, Esperanza (Chucho) Flores, Leonor (Nicholas) Balli, Estella (Mike) Lopez and brothers Wille (Josephina) Cerda, Raul (Eliarda) Cerda, & Fernando (Tomasa) Cerda.
