

Angelina Marie Maman Alvarez, age 92, was called to be with the Lord on March 14, 2016 in Brownsville, TX. Born in Santa Barbara, California, on October 21, 1923, of Italian Immigrants, Angie married her love, Gilbert Alvarez in 1944 during World War II while he was stationed in California. Gilbert brought his lovely Italian wife to Brownsville, Texas in 1947 after having their first born, Eieleen Marie. Angie quickly became acclimated to the Rio Grande Valley ways. She was a devout Catholic who volunteered her time and services to Holy Family Catholic Church. Angie was a member of the Holy Family Ladies Club, the Catholic Sacred Heart Society and the American Legion Auxiliary for 40 years. She was employed with Lopez Supermarket and BISD.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Angelo and Erminia Maman; a brother, Albino Bazzi and husband of 67 years Gilbert Alvarez.
She leaves behind three loving children to cherish her memory, Eieleen Alvarez, Charles Alvarez and Patricia Salinas; three grandchildren, Erminia Tovar, Rolando Salinas and Gilbert Salinas and one great granddaughter Nina Marie Tovar. She also leaves behind three siblings, Vera (Charles) Offutt, Angelo (Filomena) Bazzi and Rosie (Ron) Reid all of California. Plus numerous nieces, nephews and family members who will love and miss her deeply.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Rolando Salinas, Gilbert Salinas, Frank Alvarez, Frank Alvarez Jr., Adrian Hinojosa and Dominic Lerma. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Cackley, Emilio Coy, Joe Hinojosa Jr., David Alvarez and George Alvarez.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Mrs. Raquel Gonzalez for being Angie's provider for many years. Also to her doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Gumbel and Dr. Silva for providing excellent care throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on March 16, 2016 from 4pm to 9pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral Mass will take place on March 17, 2016 at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a committal service to Buena Vista Burial Park.
