

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio "Tony" Salinas on March 28, 2025. Tony was a cherished husband, brother, son-in-law, and uncle, whose kindness and presence touched everyone who knew him.
Tony had a love for life that shone through his many hobbies and pastimes. He found joy in gardening and bird-watching, nurturing both plants and the wildlife around him. His butterfly garden was his pride and joy, attracting vibrant Monarch butterflies that added even more beauty to his surroundings. He was a master in the kitchen and at the grill, crafting world-famous salsa recipes and whipping up mouthwatering meals that brought people together. Known for his quick wit, vivid imagination, and a knack for storytelling, Tony could light up any room with his humor and charm.
Tony embraced life’s simple joys, finding deep contentment in quiet evenings spent with his wife Kim. One of their favorite traditions began during the pandemic—sitting on the front sidewalk, enjoying heartfelt conversations and the companionship of their beloved dogs, while savoring a cold beer. These quiet evenings were the perfect way to unwind after a fulfilling day working side by side in their yard, nurturing their garden and each other. Tony often expressed his happiness for Kim's recent retirement, as it allowed them to embrace even more of these peaceful, treasured moments spent together.
Tony was an avid reader of books and newspapers, always staying informed and inspired. He also had a lifelong passion for collecting comic books, appreciating their distinctive artwork and captivating stories, a true reflection of his curiosity and creative spirit. A devoted music fan, Tony especially loved classic rock, which served as the soundtrack to many special moments in his life. Tony had a special bond with his dogs, whose loyalty and companionship brought him comfort and happiness.
One of Tony's favorite pastimes was playing basketball with his brother and friends. The camaraderie, friendly competition, and laughter made those moments unforgettable. A devoted sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys and loved bonding over the excitement of the games.
Above all, Tony treasured the time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Salinas, and his siblings: Gloria Sais (Mario), Amparo Pena (Joe), Linda Khaledi (Jhamshid), Mary Ramirez (Josue), Martin Salinas (Isabel), Jesus Salinas, Sophia Salinas, Cynthia Salinas, and Melissa Karavasilis (Matthew). Tony also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Margaret Battles (+James), sister-in-law Lisa Battles (Roger Dunlop), and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Amparo Salinas; father, Manuel Salinas; brother, Manuel Salinas Jr. (Vicenta); and nephew, Carlos Hernandez.
Tony's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever hold onto the love, laughter, and joy he brought into their lives.
A visitation for Antonio will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Talk at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Angels, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
