Douglas William Krampert

26 May, 195220 September, 2021

Douglas William Krampert, age 69, of Brownsville, Texas passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Doug was born on May 26, 1952 in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania to Louise Veronica Nuoto and William Douglas Krampert .

He was the oldest of 5 children. In 1984-85 Doug's parents and his three sisters moved to San Antonio, Texas where he would relocate many years later. He and his brother, Kenny, stayed in the Pittsburgh area for many years and lived together off and on. During the time he spent in Pittsburgh, Doug worked for the UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) as a Union Steward for the employees of Giant Eagle Supermarket where he was a full time employee from age 16. In 1985, he became employed by the Union itself, working to organize unions in local grocery stores and set up picket lines for stores where they would not allow the workers to organize. The unions fought for fare wages, as well as improved benefits and working conditions for the grocery store employees. Doug had a very strong work ethic and was greatly respected by his fellow coworkers. He was able to retire at the age of 50 after putting in over 30 years of hard work. In 2004, Doug moved to San Antonio to live with, and help out, his elderly parents. He would later marry Elizabeth Cobos in 2016 and relocate to Brownsville, Texas where she was from. Along with his loving wife, Elizabeth, Doug also leaves behind his three daughters, Kimberly (Vince) White, Kelly (Chris) Pousson, Lauren (Steven) Sterling, and his son Zachary Krampert, his four siblings Kathy (Jim) Kraft, Lori (Ed) Immel, Eileen Duranko, and Ken (Mitzie) Krampert, and his 8 grandchildren Jack, Peter, Annabelle, and Elena Pousson, Francesca and Philip White, Carissa Krampert, and Madeline Sterling. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Bill Krampert.

A visitation for Douglas will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.

I worked with Doug when he worked for UFCW 23 out of Pittsburgh. At one point before I also went to work for the Local, Doug was my Union Rep at my work site. He was always a joy to hang out with and always had the best stories to tell. I know Doug will be greatly missed. RIP my friend. 😥
