Francisco H. Agado

Francisco H. Agado, 83, lovingly known as Panchi or Don Pancho and cherished as Papa by his grandchildren, was called home to the Lord after a life defined by devotion, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. He was born on February 3, 1942, to Francisco Agado and Irene Hinojosa Agado, and was proudly named after his beloved father.

Francisco was born and raised in El Rancho El Banquete, in the Municipio de Matamoros. From an early age, he learned the values of sacrifice, responsibility, and faith—values that guided him throughout his life. In 1984, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, where he built a life rooted in family alongside his devoted wife, Dalida Agado, and raised their son, Francisco Agado.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dalida Agado; his son and daughter-in-law, Francisco and Daniela Agado; and his treasured grandchildren, Alexander, Xavier, and Madilyn Agado, who were the light of his life and the pride of his heart. He is also survived by his sister, Eva Agado de Abrego, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry his memory.

Francisco was preceded in death by his siblings: Elodia Agado†, Gilibaldo Agado†, Daniel Agado†, Natividad Agado†, Catarino Agado, Evangelina Agado†, Juanita Agado†, and Zulema Agado†.

In his younger years, Francisco left El Banquete in search of work to help provide for his family. He proved himself to be a loving son and brother, always doing what was necessary to support those he loved so dearly. His work ethic carried him through many seasons of life—from working at a bowling alley in Mexico, where he eventually became its manager, to owning and operating a neighborhood grocery store alongside his wife. Later, he found his calling in buying and selling cars.

Francisco was the proud owner of Frank’s Auto Sales, first located on Boca Chica Boulevard and later on International Boulevard. For many years, he served his community with honesty and integrity until his well-earned retirement. He was admired by many as a man of his word—an honest businessman, a loyal friend, and a loving uncle.

Some of Francisco’s fondest memories were made in the stands of various baseball fields, where he spent countless evenings and weekends watching his son play the game he loved. He also cherished fishing trips with his wife and son, savoring the quiet moments and simple joys of togetherness. Yet when he became a grandfather, his life truly reached a new fullness—his joy deepened, his purpose expanded, and his love found its greatest expression.

In retirement, Papa structured his days around what mattered most: fishing, lottery days, and caring for his grandchildren. He faithfully picked them up from school, attended every award ceremony and extracurricular activity, and was always present. He and his wife became known for being the very first car in the after-school pickup line—arriving hours early, long before dismissal. It was never about being first; it was about his grandchildren knowing they could always count on him.

A man of faith, Francisco found comfort and community at St. Eugene de Mazenod Catholic Church, where he regularly attended Mass and participated in prayer groups and parish events. His life reflected his faith, trusting in God’s promise:

“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.”

— John 11:25

And as Scripture assures us:

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your master.”

— Matthew 25:23

Francisco will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him, but his legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the lives he touched.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who visited, called, prayed, and cared for him until the very end. May he now rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God.

Agado, de 83 años, cariñosamente conocido como Panchi o Don Pancho y llamado con amor Papa por sus nietos, fue llamado a la presencia del Señor después de una vida marcada por la entrega, el trabajo honrado y un amor inquebrantable por su familia. Nació el 3 de febrero de 1942, hijo de Francisco Agado e Irene Hinojosa Agado, y fue nombrado en honor a su querido padre.

Francisco nació y creció en El Rancho El Banquete, Municipio de Matamoros. Desde muy joven aprendió los valores del sacrificio, la responsabilidad y la fe, los cuales guiaron cada etapa de su vida. En 1984, se trasladó a Brownsville, Texas, donde formó un hogar lleno de amor junto a su esposa, Dalida Agado, y donde criaron a su hijo, Francisco Agado.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Dalida Agado; su hijo y nuera, Francisco y Daniela Agado; y sus adorados nietos, Alexander, Xavier y Madilyn Agado, quienes fueron la alegría más grande de su vida. También le sobrevive su hermana, Eva Agado de Abrego, así como numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares que siempre lo llevarán en su corazón.

Francisco fue precedido en la muerte por sus hermanos: Elodia Agado†, Gilibaldo Agado†, Daniel Agado†, Natividad Agado†, Catarino Agado, Evangelina Agado†, Juanita Agado† y Zulema Agado†.

En su juventud, Francisco dejó El Banquete en busca de trabajo para ayudar a sostener a su familia. Fue un hijo y hermano amoroso, siempre dispuesto a hacer lo necesario para apoyar a quienes tanto amaba. Trabajó durante muchos años en el boliche en Matamoros México, donde llegó a ser gerente, y más tarde fue propietario y operador de una tienda de abarrotes junto a su esposa. Posteriormente, se dedicó a la compra y venta de automóviles.

Francisco fue el orgulloso propietario de Frank’s Auto Sales, primero ubicado en Boca Chica Boulevard y después en International Boulevard, donde trabajó durante muchos años hasta su merecida jubilación. Fue admirado por muchos como una persona honesta, un amigo leal y un tío amoroso.

En sus primeros años, uno de sus mayores gustos fue pasar tardes y fines de semana en campos de béisbol, apoyando a su hijo mientras jugaba el deporte que tanto amaba. También disfrutaba salir a pescar con su esposa y su hijo, atesorando esos momentos de tranquilidad y unión familiar. Sin embargo, al convertirse en abuelo, su vida alcanzó una plenitud aún mayor: su alegría se profundizó, su propósito se amplió y su amor se manifestó de manera incomparable.

Durante su retiro, Papa organizaba sus días alrededor de lo que más valoraba: la pesca, los días de lotería y, sobre todo, el cuidado de sus nietos. Con gran dedicación los llevaba y recogía de la escuela, asistía a todas sus ceremonias de reconocimientos y actividades extracurriculares. Él y su esposa eran conocidos por ser siempre los primeros en la fila para recogerlos después de clases, llegando incluso horas antes de la salida. No se trataba de ser los primeros, sino de que sus nietos supieran que siempre podían contar con su presencia.

Hombre de profunda fe, Francisco encontraba consuelo y comunidad en la Iglesia Católica San Eugenio de Mazenod, donde asistía fielmente a misa y participaba en grupos de oración y eventos comunitarios. Su vida reflejó su confianza en las promesas de Dios:

“Yo soy la resurrección y la vida; el que cree en mí, aunque haya muerto, vivirá.”

— Juan 11:25

Y como nos asegura la Sagrada Escritura:

“Bien, siervo bueno y fiel… entra en el gozo de tu Señor.”

— Mateo 25:23

Francisco será profundamente extrañado por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo, pero su legado de amor, fe y dedicación vivirá para siempre en las vidas que tocó.
