Genoveva Escobedo was a strong mother and grandmother who single handily raised six children. She was always there for them any time they needed and always had her doors open. She taught us how to be strong and independent. There was lots of love that our mother gave us. She was a incredible teacher who inspired everyone who knew her. Our mother had an extraordinary personality that would shock most people and did not hold back on speaking her mind. Her warped sense of humor will never be forgotten. She dedicated her life to her family in making sure we were supported in every decision we made. She sacrificed everything even before her. Our mothers elaborate fashion matched her enthusiastic personality. Mom your memory will live on in all of our hearts forever.
Genoveva is survived by her daughter Idalia Escobedo; daughter Esmeralda Escobedo; daughter Maria Teresa Escobedo; daughter Maricela E. Barreda; and daughter Yajaira Escobedo Garza; grandson Steve Escobedo.
Genoveva was preceded in death by her son Elias Escobedo†; mother Eulalia Rodriguez† and father Alejo Hinojosa†; grandson Jesse Clive III†, and great grandson Kyle Jasso†.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Genoveva will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A continued visitation will occur Tuesday, July 4, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM with a rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial at 3:00 PM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
Serving as pallbearers are Steven Escobedo, Rolando Sanchez, Gabriel Jasso, Little Manny Barreda, Guillermo (Memo) Salazar, Danny Revuelta, Gilbert Garza and Manny Barreda.
