Lino De La Peña, age 86, of Brownsville, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Lino was born December 1, 1935. Though born in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Lino De La Peña was a true son to Brownsville, TX. He spent most of his life here and found his life’s calling as a husband, father, and independent business owner.
He married his first wife Argelia Cuellar De La Peña in 1954 and had eight children together. Years after her passing, he met his second wife Rosa De La Peña Campillo who shared 47 years of marriage with and together they grew their family with three more children. Together they raised 11 children with obedient vigilance, compassionate understanding, tough love, and unwavering support.
A genuinely self-made man, Lino worked all his life to support his mother and then his wife and children. He worked in the fields, did maintenance work, and later owned a taxi company and bar. His work was his life’s passion and the strength of this spirit and tireless work ethic are reflected in morals he instilled in his children. A legacy that will remain in eternity.
His passing is preceded in death by his mother Maria de Los Angeles Peña Cantu, first wife Argelia Cuellar De La Peña, brothers Guadalupe Peña and Pedro Peña, and son Alejandro De La Peña.
He is survived by his loving wife Rosa De La Peña Campillo, children Roberto De La Peña, Sergio De La Peña, Argelia De La Rosa, Carlos De La Peña, Maria de Lourdes Cruz, Maria Isabel Kumpf, Veronica Kenney, Enrique De La Peña, Annabel De La Peña, Claudia De La Peña. Lino De La Peña also leaves behind 35 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Serving as pallbearers are Sergio De La Peña - Son, Carlos De La Peña - Son, Enrique De La Peña - Son, Christian Alexander De La Peña - Grandson, Dr. Daniel Eduardo Chacon - Grandson, Diego Abraham De La Peña - Grandson, Victor Emmanuel Camacho - Grandson, Omar Eduardo Camacho - Grandson, Jair Ismael De La Peña - Grandson, and Sebastian Ezequiel De La Peña - Grandson.
Visitation for Lino will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 . A Chapel Service will occur Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria del Angel Rose Lawn, followed by a burial at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX., 78526.
