Margarita Alicia Peralez Medina entered eternal rest on January 18, 2025, in McAllen, Texas at McAllen Medical Center after a battle with heart failure. Born on March 4, 1960, in Brownsville, Texas, she was the fifth child to Efrain and Alicia Peralez, sister to Efrain+ (Silvia) Peralez, Jr., Patricio+ (Irma) Peralez, Maria Elena+ (Romualdo+) P. Nieto, Maria “Lucy” P. (Tony) Sanfilippo, Alicia Peralez, Aurora Peralez+, Rosalinda P. (Daniel Jr) Saucedo, and Viviana P. (Ruben) Amaro.
Margarita was a loving wife of 42 years to Miguel Medina Solarzano, Sr. Together they built a loving family and raised three beautiful children: Miguel Medina Jr. (Jasmine), Mark Anthony Medina (Christa), and Melissa Ali Medina (Rene). She was a devoted mother whose love and care were the cornerstone of her family. She was also a faithful Catholic servant who treasured life and its blessings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Efrain Peralez Sr. and Alicia G. Peralez; her brothers, Efrain Peralez Jr. and Patricio Peralez Sr.; her sisters, Maria Elena P. Nieto and Aurora Peralez and brother-in-law Romualdo Nieto.
Margarita is survived by her husband, children, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margarita was a talented woman known for her love of cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, crafting and most importantly her joyful personality. She was a devout Catholic and would lead the family with various prayers and religious songs that have been passed by past generations. You could always see her working on a sewing project or spending time outside in her beautiful garden. Margarita was generous with her love, faith, knowledge, always teaching and showcasing her skills for others to learn.
Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her legacy of love and creativity bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
A visitation for Margarita will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 11:55 PM with a Rosary at 7 pm in Chapel of Angels, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista & Buena Vista Burial Park, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A burial will occur Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to contribute to the funeral services by calling the Del Angel Funeral Home.
