Maria Guadalupe Aguilar

Maria Guadalupe Aguilar, known affectionately as Lupita, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love on August 5, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 72.

Born on September 4, 1952, in Brownsville, Lupita was a woman of faith, deep compassion, even deeper love and enduring strength. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1970 and dedicated her life to serving others, both in her personal and professional life. For 25 years she worked her way from the bottom to Escrow Officer in a title company closing real estate before moving onto Administrative Assistant to the CEO of Valley Regional Medical Center; where she completed 15 years of dedicated service before retiring after another 5 years in the same position at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio.

Lupita is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Jose Manuel Aguilar Sr.; her children: Jose Manuel Aguilar Jr. (Diana), Ricardo Aguilar (Christie), and Nora Lanier (Christopher); her cherished grandchildren: Ximena and Celeste Aguilar, Sophia and Charlotte Lanier and siblings: Alfonso (Perla), Berta (Timothy), Reynaldo (Adelfa), Maggie, and Mark (Teresa); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who loved her like a second mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria del Refugio and Alfonso Gutierrez; her mother-in-law, Oralia De La Garza; and her precious triplet granddaughters, Georgia Marie, Claire Delani, and Zada Jane Lanier.

Lupita had a sharp mind and a kind heart. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a zest for travel and new experiences, but above all, she treasured time with her family. She was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort to everyone who knew her.

Per her wishes, no formal service will be held, but the family will host a celebration of life at a later date. Details will be shared in the coming days.
