She is survived by her sons, Quirino Utrera Jr, Valerio Utrera, and Marcus Mesta, and her daughter, Celeste Mesta. Her grandchildren include Ava Marie Utrera and Lorenzo Mesta. Her surviving siblings are Erasmo Martinez Jr, Gualberto Martinez, Reynaldo Martinez, Rodolfo Martinez, and Rosa Martinez. Her father, Jesus (Chuy) Erasmo Martinez, is also among her surviving family members.

Maria Elena Mesta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vistor Mesta, and her mother, Isaura Gonzalez.
