Maria Isabel Perez

María Isabel Pérez fue una madre, una esposa, pero sobre todo, una hija de Dios. Su vida entera fue construida y transformada sobre el firme fundamento de Jesucristo.

Durante su adolescencia, asistió a la Iglesia Bautista Southmost, donde hizo amistades que durarían toda la vida. Ya en su juventud, asistió a la Iglesia Bautista West Brownsville, donde conoció a su esposo, Rogelio Pérez. Su amor por el ganar almas la llevó a muchas aventuras: con su iglesia, sola y junto a su esposo, visitando más de 20 países mundialmente. Uno de sus recuerdos más preciados fue el viaje misionero de dos años a General Alvear, Argentina, que realizó con su esposo y donde impactaron muchas vidas. Cuando su esposo fundó la Iglesia Bautista Capernaum, ella se convirtió en una orgullosa miembra del equipo de Escuela Dominical, consejera del grupo de jóvenes y líder del estudio bíblico de mujeres.

María Isabel no solo tenía una pasión por Cristo, sino también una gran admiración por la educación. Estudió en la Universidad de Texas en Brownsville y obtuvo su licenciatura y maestría en educación con especialidad en consejería. Trabajó durante muchos años como maestra en BISD, y luego decidió seguir su sueño de convertirse en consejera en Veterans Memorial ECHS, donde trabajó por más de diez años.

Su batalla de dos años contra el cáncer la llevó a estar segura de una cosa: iba a seguir luchando. Fue un gran logro ver a una mujer que atravesaba tanto dolor, mantener la cabeza en alto por sus amigos, su familia y por ella misma. Comenzó a trabajar más duro que nunca e incluso decidió cumplir uno de sus sueños de toda la vida, escribio un librio. “Lo Que El Dolor Me Enseñó”, basado en su propia experiencia con el cáncer, mostro a otras personas en su misma situación que no estaban solas.

María Isabel fue una mujer muy generosa, que hasta sus últimos momentos no pensaba en sí misma, sino en sus hijos: Ari Gamaliel, Joel Daniel y Valeria Michelle. Siempre se aseguró de que su familia fuera lo más importante, y ellos siempre la recordarán como esa mujer inteligente, bondadosa y valiente que lo dio todo por ellos.

Ahora, vivirá para siempre en nuestros corazones como una mujer increíble y una valiente guerrera.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos por la vida tan maravillosa que Dios le permitió tener, y estamos seguros de que esto no es un adiós. ¡Nos volveremos a ver en un lugar donde no habrá más llanto ni más dolor!

El martes 10 de junio la visitación de 1 a 9 p.m. estará en la Iglesia Bautista West Brownsville ubicada en 925 W. St. Charles St. Brownsville Tx. y a las 7 p.m. en la misma Iglesia Bautista West se estará celebrando un Servicio .

El miércoles 11 de junio estaremos en la Iglesia Bautista Capernaum a partir de las 9:30 a.m. que esta ubicada (address) 6480 1732 FM Olmito Tx. y después a las 11:00 a.m. estaremos en Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Maria Isabel Perez was a mother, a wife, but most importantly, a child of God. Her entire life was built and transformed on her firm foundations of Jesus Christ. She attended the Iglesia Bautista Southmost in her teenage years and made everlasting friendships. As an early adult, she attended the Iglesia Bautista West Brownsville, where she met her husband, Rogelio Perez.

Her love for religious missions, took her on many adventures with the church, by herself, and with her husband in over 20 countries globally. Her fondest memory of these journeys was the 2 year mission trip in General Alvear, Argentina she took with her husband, where they impacted the lives of many. As her husband later founded the Iglesia Bautista Capernaum, she became a proud member of their Sunday school team, a Youth Group counselor, and head of the women’s bible study. Maria Isabel not only had a passion for Christ , but she had an adoration for education. She studied in the University of Texas at Brownsville, and earned her bachelors and master's degree in education with a specialty in counseling. She worked for many years as a teacher in BISD, then decided to follow her dream of becoming a counselor in Veterans Memorial ECHS, where she worked for more than 10 years.

Maria Isabel’s 2 year battle with cancer led her to become sure of one thing, she was going to keep fighting. It was a great feat to see a woman that was going through so much, keep her head up high for her friends, family, and herself. She started to work harder than before and even decided to complete one of her life long dreams. She created a book, “Lo Que El Dolor Me Enseño”, based on her own experiences of battling cancer, to show people in her same situation that they were not alone. She was a very selfless women, that up until her last moments was not thinking about herself, but about her children, Ari Gamaliel, Joel Daniel, and Valeria Michelle. She made sure that her family was always number one, and they will always remember her as that intelligent, kind, and valiant woman, who did everything for them.

Now, she will forever be in our hearts as a amazing, brave warrior. We are extremely grateful for her tremendous life that God allowed her to have, and we are sure that this isn’t a goodbye! We will meet again in a place where there will be no more crying or any more pain!

Maria is survived by her husband: Rogelio A. Perez; her children: Valeria Perez, Ari Gamaliel Perez and Joel Daniel Perez; her siblings: Beatriz Granado-Buenrostro, Jorge A. Granado and her brother-in-law: Elfego Buenrostro; her niece: Bitia Buenrostro and her nephew: Eliud Buenrostro.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents: Apolinar Granado † and Barbara Granado †.
