

She was born on July 11, 1921 to Dionicio Alvear and Irene E. Miller Alvear in La Tulosa, Texas. Maria owned and operated Silguero’s Home Day Care for 21 years until her retirement. After retirement she joined the Sunrise Mall Walkers where she made many acquaintances. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, traveling and fishing. Maria will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Maria was the Matriarch of the Alvear and Silguero family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of over 34 years, Raul Silguero, Sr.; son, Roberto Silguero; brother, Roberto Alvear; sisters, Barbara A. Munivez, Irene A. Ortiz, Julia A. Cantu, Ana A. Preciado and Lydia A. Saenz and daughter-in- law, Mary Corkill Silguero.
She is survived by her children; Raul Silguero, Jr., Magdalena (Alfredo) Estrada, Belia (Donald) Lancon, Rodolfo Silguero, Sr. Margarita Silguero, Maria E. (Rick) Lepre, Melba (George) De Los Santos, Ricardo Silguero, Jose Silguero and Melinda S. Hernandez; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista in Brownsville with Visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m.
A Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Brownsville. Entombment will follow at the Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be, Raul Silguero, Jr., Rodolfo Silguero, Sr., Rick Silguero, Joe Silguero, Robert Michael Silguero and Jesse Cortez. Honorary Pallbearer will be, Gustavo Hernandez, Maria’s pride and joy.
