

Ninfa G. Escobedo, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 93 in her hometown of Brownsville, Texas. Her long and beautiful life was one marked by unwavering love, quiet strength, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Born on December 11, 1931, in Brownsville to Angelita Anorga Lopez and Maximo Garcia, Ninfa grew up with humble beginnings and a heart full of grace. Though her formal education was limited, her wisdom, work ethic, and character spoke volumes throughout her life.
Ninfa dedicated over 40 years of service to Sears Roebuck and Company, where her warm demeanor and extraordinary kindness earned her the Courtesy Award year after year. She was a familiar face to many and left a lasting impression on everyone she met through her exceptional care and genuine kindness.
In 1949, Ninfa married Sergio Escobedo, with whom she shared nearly six decades of marriage before his passing in 2008. Together, they built a life centered around love, faith, and family.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sylvia Ann Medellin, and son-in-law, David Medellin; and her cherished granddaughter, Angela Lina Medellin, and grandson-in-law, Gabriel Garcia. Her legacy continues through the countless lives she touched with her gentle spirit.
Ninfa was also a beloved sister to Norma Guillen and her husband Eric, and aunt to Brigette Guillen. She is lovingly remembered by her in-laws Emilio Escobedo, Martha Saenz, and Grace Zbieronek. She was preceded in death by her sister Consuelo Campos and nephew Rolando Campos.
A lifelong woman of faith, Ninfa attended her local community church for most of her life. Her quiet devotion, kindness to others, and steadfast love for her family were the pillars of her being. She will be remembered for her selfless heart, gentle nature, and the way she made everyone feel at home in her presence.
Ninfa’s life was a gift to all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave will continue to live on through the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A visitation for Ninfa will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana, Brownsville, Brownsville, TX 78520. A burial will occur Monday, June 2, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mc Davitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521.
