The Lorenz Family announces the passing of Rose Marie Starck Lorenz, on April 6, 2026 at the age of 85. She was born November 10, 1940, in Mercedes Texas, to Charles W. Starck and Guadalupe Longoria Starck. Rose was married to Eugene (Gene) Lorenz on March 13, 1959. They had three children: David Anthony, Judith Elaine, and John Michael. After the passing of Gene, Rose became the matriarch of the family.
Rose dedicated her life to education. She spent her years serving special needs children, first as a teacher, then as a Special Education Supervisor with BISD. The impact she made is still remembered today by the many families affected by her commitment to provide appropriate educational services. Rose was also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Brownsville. She shared her knowledge and insight to future special education teachers which would strengthen and prepare them for the world of special education.
During her many years in education, Rose made many friends, friends she counted as family. She touched them with her wit and grit, living her life on her terms. She will be remembered for her commitment to her faith, her family, her love for special education ….and her zeal for life. For those who called Rose friend, they will mourn her passing but will have many memories to remember her by.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her parents Charles W. Starck Sr. and Guadalupe Longoria Starck ,her siblings Maria (Mary) Theresa Starck Hamilton, Louann Starck Holgate and Charles W. Starck Jr. She is survived by her sister Martha Margaret Starck Dilenno, her children David (Myrna), Judith, and John (Angelica), her grandson Quentin Robert Lorenz, and caretaker Ester Flores.
The family has decided there will be no viewing, only a gravesite service by Buena Vista Funeral Home.
