Aileen O’Brien Ferguson, 73, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her home in Bryan. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan with a Rosary being recited at 5:30 P.M. at the Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Aileen was born June 13, 1940 in Astoria Long Island in New York, to Agnes Donegan and Peter O’Brien. She grew up and attended school in New York and met Gerald W. Ferguson while he was on military assignment at West Point. She and Gerald married May 1, 1963. Aileen and her family lived in many cities throughout the United States due to Gerald’s work with Brown and Root, making Bryan their home in 1981.
Aileen worked in the Accounting Department for the Bryan I.S.D. for the past 15 years. Before that she was employed with St. Joseph Elementary School in Bryan, serving as the director of the After School Care and Summer Programs. She was a devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She managed the Church gift shop for several years and was the long time coordinator of the Spring Garage Sale for the Church. Besides attending Mass on Sunday, she frequently visited the chapel for prayer. If the Church was open, she was always there. She loved her Church, she loved her garden, and most of all, she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Agnes. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald W. Ferguson of Bryan; two sons, Ricky Ferguson and his wife Stacey of Coldsprings, Texas and Andrew Ferguson of Bryan; two daughters, Jennifer Bond of Bryan and Theresa Neveu of New Port News, VA; three brothers, Pete O’Brien of the Philippines, Tommy O’Brien and his wife Ethel of New York, and Pat O’Brien of New Mexico; three sisters, Winnie Infante of New York, Mary McDonald of Michigan, and Jennie O’Brien of Florida; grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Peyton, Kyndall, Kenlee, Connor, Kamryn, Colin, and Hayden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
