Diane Marie Wintersmith graced the world with her presence on February 23, 1949 and returned to God on December 17, 2011. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday December 28 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Diane was born to Joseph and Marion Kleparek in Toledo, Ohio and happily married to Donnie Wintersmith for 45 years. She was a devout wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who drove a school bus for Bryan ISD for 30 years before retiring in May 2010. Her school bus children, whom she adored, affectionately knew her as “Bubblegum”. She was the oldest of six siblings for whom she was always there for and they all appreciated having such a wonderful, loving, caring and giving sister. Her children and grandchildren were blessed to have her to always look out for them as well.
Diane never met a stranger, took those in need and loved to cook. Her spaghetti and chili, among many other favorites, often warmed and fed many a hungry mouth. Her door was always open and she always gave more than she took.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sharon Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Wintersmith; sons, Scott Kleparek and James Grenwelge; daughter, Shawn Gent; grandchildren, Ashton, George and Ashley; sisters, Debra Pritchard and husband Randy, Shelly Phillips and husband Rick, Kay Callahan; brothers, Keith Kleparek and Thomas Kleparek; brothers-in-law, Al Wintersmith and Tony Martinez.
Diane will be sorely missed but many lives were touched by her and her love will live on through those blessed enough to be loved by her.
Cards, flowers and donations to her grandson’s education fund, in honor of her memory may be sent to 2605 Wilhelm, Bryan, Texas 77803.
