Dianna Peacock

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 10 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Willowhole Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dianna was born June 6, 1944 in Bryan, the daughter of Donal Ray and Bessie Mae (Maudin) Vernon. She graduated Stephen F. Austin High School Class of 1962. Dianna met her husband, Howard, in 1966 and shortly after married. She always said that it was the best decision she ever made in her life. Dianna worked various jobs but her most rewarding was as an electronics technician at Westinghouse and later as a machinist at Tarleton Supply Company in Brenham. She took pride in her job and loved making circuit boards and parts.

Dianna was a people person; she loved to start a conversation with anyone who would talk with her and she never met a stranger. Conversations could be for a short time or many hours, but after, you definitely felt you made a new friend. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. She was the perfect play partner and teacher for them all. People who never met Dianna know her by the people her children and grandchildren are. They are truly blessed to have had her as their role model, and lucky to have had their mama moonlight as both Mrs. Santa Claus and Pinky the Clown.

Dianna was strong in her faith. Throughout her illness, she never wavered. Not one tear was shed by her in regard to her illness. She trusted God completely. She was a member of Life Line Sanctuary Church in College Station.

Dianna is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Vernon; grandparents, George and Leona Vernon; brother, Rickey Vernon; and a niece, Stephanie Strickland Rosemeyer.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Howard Peacock of Bryan; daughter, Dr. Shelly Rae Peacock of Bryan; sons and daughters-in-law, SFC. David Howard and Susan Peacock of Woodbine, Maryland, Steven Franklin and Chastity Peacock of Bryan; CW3 (ret.) William Timothy and Mylinda Peacock of Lampasas; father, Donal Vernon of Bryan; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Joel Strickland of Bryan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Jennifer Vernon of Conroe, Charles “Spook” and Jo Lynn Vernon of Bryan; six grandchildren, Alexandra Fitzgerald, Hailey Peacock, Kenzie Peacock, Austyn Rae Peacock, Dylan Peacock, and Renzie Peacock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
