Doris McGill was born in Pampas, TX on December 16, 1929. Doris was as unique as they come. She had a strong will and very strong beliefs for what she wanted out of life. Growing up with three siblings, she always had family around her. She learned at an early age to pick cotton with her grandfather among other life skills.
Moving around a lot in her childhood, Doris developed an early love of travelling. She met the love of her life, Clarence McGill, at a church revival and married shortly after in 1949. They were married for 60 years. Clarence shared Doris’ love to travel and together they had many adventures at some of their favorite spots including Las Vegas, Mexico City and Colorado.
Doris was a wife and mother, raising two children, Donna and Jerry, in the Houston and Bellaire area.
When Clarence died in 2010, Doris began to learn more about herself and how strong she truly was. She loved to go out to eat and shop. Her hobby was to buy the best and prettiest dishes she could afford. Doris never met a stranger. Sometimes she would even go out of her way to say hello to that one person who she thought would appreciate her words of thoughtfulness. If they were to ask how she was doing, she would tell them “I’m still a kick ‘n”. Doris believed in God and knew she would be with everyone she loved someday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McGill and two siblings Bill T. Donahoe and Vera Pilz.
She is survived by her Sister and Brother-in- Law Sherry and Billy Chance, her Sister-in-Law Norma Donahoe, Sister-in-Law Barbara Larpenter, Son and Daughter-in-Law Jerry and Estella McGill, Daughter and Son-in-Law Donna and William French, Grandson and Wife Joseph and Susan French and lots of nieces and nephews.
