Earl Douglas Brittain, 77, died peacefully in his home on October 22, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, at Central Baptist Church in Bryan. Memorial contributions are welcome at Hospice Brazos Valley at 502 E. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas, 77803 or at 979-821-2266.
Born on the family farm in Petronila, Texas to George and Nellie Brittain he was a graduate of Robstown High School. In 1971, Doug married Carolyn Teague. As he battled with this brief illness, Doug wanted to make sure Carolyn told their family members how important it was to know that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. Doug often shared that truth with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker with a strong sense of duty and wanted to always do what was right. He was a humble man who never thought himself above anyone and would often work beside those he had hired to help him on his property.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Brittain, Jr. and Vernon Brittain; sister, Ruby Brittain; his daughter, Glenda Brittain; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Brittain.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Teague Brittain, of College Station; his son, Earl Douglas Brittain, Jr., and his children Christopher and Casey of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughter Donna Babin and her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Stephen Brown, and her son, Dustin Babin, of Friendswood, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Laura Brittain, and their children, Ethan, Aaron and Nathan of College Station; his son and daughter-in-law, Brady and Amanda Brittain, and their children, Emily, Ella and Beau of College Station; and his daughter Terry Roberts and her children, Thomas and Sydney of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister-in-law, Zelda Brittain of Bishop, Texas; sister-in-law, Sissy Brittain of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bobby Bauch; brother-in-law, Paul Teague of Mathis, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
