Eunice Raye Smith

Eunice Raye Smith went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2010 in Bryan, Texas at the age of 95. Services for Raye are set for 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 16th at Central Baptist Church in Bryan. Interment will be at Martins Prairie Cemetery in Keith, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 15th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Ray Smith was born May 29, 1915 in Keith Community, Grimes County, Texas. She was one of ten children born to Easley and Ellen Gorbett Stedman. Raye was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She was a faithful, long time member of Central Baptist and Uplifters Sunday School Class where she enjoyed many close friendships. Raye always enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved gardening and fishing. She loved to cook and was a talented quilter.

She was a devoted wife of 55 years to Weyman H. Smith and mother to Linda Raye Beene of Bryan. She also had a close bond to her twin sister Faye Stedman Beene of Oakhurst that is very special to the family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and one sister; husband Weyman H. Smith and son-in-law Lyndel N. Beene.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Raye Beene; grandson, Lynn Beene; granddaughters, Lisa Lunsford and husband Jim and Laurie Roman and husband Joe; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Crestview Retirement Community and Hospice Brazos Valley for their loving and compassionate care.

Pallbearers are Bobby Beene, Gary Beene, Fred Beene, Joe Bailey Stedman, Ken Stedman, and Allen Stedman.
