Francisco Mendez

Francisco Mendez, 64, of Bryan, passed away at his home July 12, 2011. Visitation will be from Friday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Dominguez, Jr., Richard Cabrera, Jr., Joe M. Gutierrez Jr., Jose A. Luna, Sr., Memo Davila, Ines Martinez, and Francisco’s grandsons will serve as alternate pallbearers.

Francisco was born September 16, 1946 in Houston to Enos and Catherina Mendez. Francisco worked for many years at the TAMU physical plant custodial department until his retirement on February 24, 2004. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, traveling, camping, and dancing. He also loved to spend time with his many family members and friends. He will be missed dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary and her husband Manuel Villa Nueva; brother-in-law Richardo Mata; brother Domingo Mendez.

Survivors include his wife Juliana F. Jaquez; children Norma Mendez, Rebecca Mendez, Eva Marie and Lauro “Weto” Cavazo; step-children Benjamin and Lori Jaquez, Rebecca and Joe Manuel Gutierrez, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Lupe and Pete Corpus, Rosa and Joe “Pepe” Guerra, Adela and Jesus Arroyo, Ofelia and Raymond Davila, Gloria Mata; brothers Ignacio Mendez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
