

Harvey “Carter” Younts, 88, of Bryan, TX. went home to be with our Lord on Nov. 30, 2011. He was born April 29, 1923 in Robstown, TX. to Silas Raymond and Nettie Dean Younts, their only child. He joined the Army Air Force at the age of 19 to become a Pilot of a B17 bomber in World War II, he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant 1945. He continued to support Veterans as a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, leader in the local and district, as well as Commander of the State of Texas, and VFW National Committees supporting Veterans affairs. He was a Farmer in San Patricio and Live Oak Counties while raising his family and serving the community. He was chairman of the Sinton Municipal Airport for several years and an elected official to hold the office of Live Oak County Constable, Precinct 3 in 1980. Carter was a Co-Founder of the Swinney Switch Volunteer Fire Dept. in Live Oak County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in his RV. He retired from farming and moved to Bryan, TX. in 1983. After retirement he continued to travel the world. Later, became extremely active with the Airstreamer Assoc. Carter never met a stranger. He loved LIFE and all friends he made along the way. He was eager to help his loved ones, neighbors and a friend in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marie Younts Ray (wife for 31 years) and Karmen Roitsch Younts (wife for 25 years).
He is survived by his wife of 8 months, Lynn Smith Younts, Daughter, Brenda Younts Coonrod of Portland, TX., Son, Harvey Carter “Bud” Younts, Jr. of Canyon Lake, TX, grandchildren Camille Leigh Cook of Katy, TX., Amanda Marie Dickson and H.C. “Trey” Younts, III of Houston, TX., and 14 great-grandchildren. Step-son Dean Schieffer of Kurten, TX., grandson’s Matt and Mason Schieffer and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 2nd from 5:30-7:30pm., Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 So. College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801. Services held Sat. Dec. 3rd, 11:00am Christ’s Way Baptist Church, 3885 Copperfield Dr., Bryan, TX 77802. Burial, Kurten Community Cemetery, Kurten, TX.
