

James Rosier, 95, of Bryan passed Wednesday September 10, 2014 at Lampstand Health and Rehab in Bryan. Visitation is scheduled for Friday September 12th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13th at Central Church of Christ in Bryan with Mr. Bob Wolfert officiating. Interment will follow at New Church Cemetery in the Edge Community.
James was born November 8, 1918 in Brazos County to Myrtie Mabry and James Franklin Rosier. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan. He served in the United States Army during World War II achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the American Defense Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, 1 Service Stripe, and 2 Overseas Bars.
After his return from World War II, he entered Texas A&M College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Entomology in 1950. Upon graduation, he joined the USDA where he became the State Supervisor for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, retiring in 1980. James served on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone Christian Academy; the Emergency Fire District Board for Precinct 2; and he served on both the Local and State Board of NARFE. He was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ in Bryan where he served as an Elder.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rachel Norwood Rosier on January 3, 2005; a son John Rosier; a brother Mabry Rosier; and a sister Bernice Chambers.
He is survived by two sons, James Rosier, Jr. and wife Janna of Arlington, Texas, and Jerry Rosier of Seabrook; one daughter Janet Rosier of Bryan; six grandchildren, Caleb Rosier, Andrea Rosier Murr, Taylor Rosier, Jamie Lenz Whitefield, Hollie Rosier, and Brandon Rosier; five great-grandchildren, Sutton Murr, Turner Murr, Lucy Rose Murr, Ryan James Rosier, and Tristan Whitefield; one sister, Nellie Johnson of Edge; and numerous other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the North Belize Medical Mission, C/O Central Church of Christ or to Alzheimer’s research.
