Jesus M. Cavazos, 95, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his home in Bryan. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a Prayer Service scheduled for 7 P.M. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday, September 10th at the Templo Sulamita Church in Bryan with Reverend Enrique Hernandez and Reverend Cristobal Ledezma officiating. Burial will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Park in Bryan.
Jesus was born in Vallecillo NL. Mexico to Francisca Garza and Jose Cavazos on December 8, 1919. He met and married Bertha Calvo in 1945. Jesus left his family and moved to the United States in 1963, finding work in a factory in Chicago. In 1971, he sent for his family and they moved to Bryan, Texas, to make their home. He worked in Food Services at Texas A&M University and at Bryan ISD until his retirement in 1988.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Deyanira Cavazos, Josefina Cavazos, and Emma Cavazos; three brothers, Bernardo Cavazos, Eleodoro Cavazos, and Santiago Cavazos; one son, Frederico Cavazos; one grandson, Cesar Cavazos, Jr.; and two sons-in-law, Romualdo Dejesus and Baldemar Vazques.
He is survived by six brothers, Lauro Cavazos, Marcial Cavazos, Arnoldo Cavazos, Fidencio Cavazos, Lupe Cavazos, and Alejandro Cavazos; two sisters, Rosa C. Alanis and Laurentina C. Garcia; six sons and daughters-in-law, Jesus and Lourdes Cavazos, Jr., Jose and Cristina Cavazos, Cesar and Sylvia Cavazos, David and Bertha Cavazos, Oscar and Abelina Cavazos, and Victor and Melissa Cavazos; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Irma and Roberto Hernandez, Bertha DeJesus, Dora and Luis Hernandez, Sylvia Vazques, and Nydia and Richard Riojas; 37 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would to give special thanks to Gerling Home Health, and Texas Home Health. Also thank you to his Physical Therapist, Dr. Barrow, Dr. Veley, Dr. Rodriquez, Dr. Berrio, Dr. Gerhing; Reverend Enrique Hernandez and his wife, Hermana Rosita, Familia Pimentel, and caregivers, Irma Hernandez, Dora Hernandez, Nydia Riojas, Bertha DeJesus, and granddaughter, Jessica Hernandez.
