Born October 20, 1947 in Mineral Wells, Texas, Kenneth was the son of Olen Dennis Petty and Betty (Chestnut) Petty. His parents preceded him in death.
Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Lynda Ruth McCollum on March 5, 1966. Kenneth served in the U. S. Army from 1967 until 1969 and then returned to the Mineral Wells area. Following his military service, Kenneth moved his wife to Bryan, Texas, where they started their family. Family was everything to Kenneth.
After working with the Brazos County Sheriff's Department for a number of years, Kenneth changed careers. TXDOT was his new employer and he learned many aspects of highway maintenance. He retired after 20 years of employment.
Kenneth’s wife of 53 years preceded him in death on March 1, 2019. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Jim, and Olen; and two sisters, Imogene and Sue.
Kenneth is survived by his two sons, David Petty and Jason Petty and his wife, Nicole; three grandchildren, Ava, Anthony, and Presley; seven siblings, Horace, Durwood, Denzil, Jerald, Nina, Janice, and Evelyn; sister-in-law, Barbara Petty (Jim's wife); other loving relatives and many dear friends.
Kenneth's family will receive friends between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Ronnie Vitulli, Sr. of Faith Bible Church will be officiating. Committal services will follow at Plainview Cemetery, 16124 FM 1452 in Normangee, Texas.
