

Kim was born May 6th, 1965, in Houston, Texas and shortly after the family moved to Brazos County. Kim graduated from Bryan High School in 1983. After high school, she studied at Blinn College in preparation for her career in public service. She began her journey as a public servant with Brazos County Communications Center as a 911 dispatcher in 1995. Kim continued to work for Brazos County dispatch for 30 years.
In 2006 Kim began working for Bryan Police Department in the Criminal Investigation Division. In 2012, a position opened in the Bryan Fire Department Fire Marshall’s Office where she worked until her passing.
Kim completed 17 years with the City of Bryan.
Kim was a hardworking, dedicated public servant. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Virginia Leighman, son Christian Blake Leighman, and Aunt and Uncle Bill and Sue Leighman.
Kim leaves behind her husband Duane Frederick of Bryan, Texas. She is also survived by her sons Hunter and Tanner, Bonus Children Brandye Edom and Cody Gunnip; Brother Scott and wife Amy Leighman; Bonus Grandsons Austin and Abel Edom; Nieces Nicole, Bailey and Chelsea; Bonus Nephew Adam Miles; Bonus Niece Nicole Mikita ; 4 grand nieces and 4 grand nephews; cousins Meredith, Jaime, Jessica and Joshua Vasquez; Michael, Megan and Brendan Leighman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30 from 6-8 pm. Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be at the House Cemetery in Edge.
