Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum with military honors. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a rosary service at 7:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Larry attended New Berlin High School in New Berlin, Illinois. He attended college at Southern Illinois University where he received his BS in Engineering with emphasis on Power Production. He also received his Masters degree at Sangamon State University in Illinois for Business Administration. From 1966-68 he served in the U.S. Army, as a nuclear Hercules missile technician.
On December 17, 1977 he married Nancy Dorgan in Springfield, Illinois. They moved to Pekin where he worked for Central Illinois Power and Light, where daughter Amanda Reichart was born. They then moved to Sulphur, Louisiana where he worked at Gulf States Power. In 1985 he moved to Bryan to work at TMPA. After leaving TMPA he was a cross country truck driver for 15 years before retiring.
Larry was a member of the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159 as well as Vietnam Vets of America. He loved his country and was proud veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, previously belonging to the Knights of Columbus and the Usher’s Club. Faith was important to him as well as college football, especially the Texas A&M Aggies. He was a proud dad to Amanda, a doting “poppy” to Hadley and Corbin. He will always be remembered as a jokester with an infectious laugh.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Marie Reichart of New Berlin, Ill.; sister, Mary Catherine Meyer Ciaccio of New Berlin, Ill; and older brother, William Reichart of Gulf Shores, Ala.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Reichart of Bryan; daughter, Amanda Crouse and husband Chad; granddaughter, Hadley and grandson, Corbin Crouse of Bryan; brother, Phillip Reichart and wife Barbara of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
