Lucille Cimino Centanni, 91, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Lampstand Health and Rehab in Bryan. Lucille was born January 12, 1924 to Beneditta and Luke Cimino at the family homestead and farm, in East Brazos County, where Messina Hof now stands. She grew up one of twelve children learning how to work and care for her family. She met and married Luke Centanni, Sr. and together owned and operated Centanni Grocery and Market in Bryan.
Lucille also loved to sew and was a very accomplished seamstress, working for Dillard’s and various Cleaners and other stores in Bryan. She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan and was a longtime member of the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren and all but one of her brothers and sisters.
Lucy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Luke Centanni, Jr. and Elaine of Bryan; three daughters and one son-in-law, Lucy and Rocky Nelson of San Antonio, Bernadette Kiser of Waco, and Mary Jane Kitchens of Bryan; one sister, Annie Cimino of Anchorage Alaska; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A St. Anthony Altar Society Rosary will be recited at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 17th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, followed by visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday March 18th at 1:30 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan with Reverend Patrick Ebner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
