Mary Jane Garcia

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 19 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church with Rev. Pedro Garcia-Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A time for family to receive friends will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday with a 6:00 p.m. rosary service at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mary Jane was born February 11, 1924 in Bryan the daughter of Nicholas and Hilaria ( Molina) Navarro. She was a lifelong member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church and the Gold Medallions. Mary Jane retired after many years of service from the post office department at Texas A&M University. She enjoyed Monday afternoon outing with longtime “burger bunch” friends. Mary Jane volunteered many countless hours for the City of Bryan, helping with anything she was asked to do.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Garcia; brothers, Frank Navarro and Gregory Molina; and her sisters, Mary Cordero and Esther Luna.

She is survived by her son, Paul D. Ortega Jr. of Austin; daughter, Guadalupe Victoria Plotnik of Dallas; grandchildren, Wendi Childress and husband Larry, Jon Paul Plotnik and wife Haylene; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Gabriella Childress, Pierce and Maxwell Plotnik; and numerous nieces and nephews.
