Mike M. Lampo, 96, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, March 28th at CHI – St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 31st at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with the Rosary to be recited at 6:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 1st at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Reverend Joseph Varickamackal as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Mike was born September 7, 1922 in Bryan, Texas, the son of Ben and Maggie (Provenzano) Lampo. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served until 1946. After he retired from International Furniture Company he continued to operate his own furniture upholstery business for many years. Mike was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and served as an usher for over 60 years. He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, Msgr. J. B. Gleissner Council 1834 (4th Degree Knight), and the American Legion, Earl Graham Post 159. Mike enjoyed bowling and especially loved visiting the casinos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben & Maggie Lampo; brothers, John B. Lampo & his wife Janie; and Joe Lampo.
Survivors include his wife Sally; daughter, Marian Hendrick & her husband Paul; grandson, Michael Hendrick & his wife Desirea; brothers-in-law, Johnny Ponzio & his wife Diana, Paul Ponzio & his wife Rosie; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Ponzio, Betty Ponzio and Betty Lampo; Mike also leaves numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
The family would like to express a special thank you to their loving and caring “Adopted Daughter” Beverly Lero, who is like a daughter to us. They would also like to thank Frank & Debra Gonzales, Diana Perez and all the caregivers from Traditions Hospice.
