

Mildred C. Mitchell, 90 of Bryan passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 A.M. Monday at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan with Reverend Ray Spradling officiating.
She was born April 22, 1924 in Tomball, Texas to Rev. D. P. and Edna Scott McGowan. She graduated from Tomball High School and attended Howard Payne University. She married her first husband, Chaplain Lamar Fred Lewis, U.S. Army, on May 30, 1943. She was dedicated homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devout Christian and loved playing the organ and piano, and singing at church. She was a wonderful cook and was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Rev. Lamar Lewis on April 2, 1990; three brothers; one sister; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Rev. Jack Mitchell of Bryan; sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Kathy Lewis of Chester, Texas, David and Nancy Lewis of Conroe, Texas, and John and Anna Mitchell of Bryan; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Glen Sherman of Longview, Texas, Cathy and Kurt Kincaid of Humble, Texas, and Beverly and Billy Burford of Richmond, Virginia; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
