Patti was born August 14, 1944 in Bryan, Texas to Annie Laura Evans and Richard M. Stone; the second youngest of 10. In younger years, Patti was an active participant in The Arc social events and competitive events such as bowling with Texas Special Olympics. Even as recent as December, Patti was enthusiastically dancing in her chair at The Arc Christmas party. Patti was proud of her large assortment of Disney and Pooh clothing, watches and collectibles and enjoyed showing items to visitors. In recent years, Patti loved watching cardinals and hummingbirds at the bird feeders as well as the neighbor’s chickens pecking along the patio and yard. Patti’s other interests and passions were bowling, coloring, painting, watching Mollie B, listening to George Strait, making beaded jewelry, Mountain Dew, wearing costume jewelry and most reverently- her Sister, Kitti. Patti was inseparable from Kitti; never was there a truer stronger loving bond. Patti’s broken heart wasn’t able to heal and she is now reunited with Kitti and her other siblings.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, William Stone, Jimmy G. Stone, Clyde Stone, and Richard Stone, Jr.; 4 sisters, Marie (PeeWee) Jojola, Josephine Jordan, Loraine Grant and Elizabeth “Kitti” Ruffino. She is survived by brother, Morris Stone; brother-in-law, L.J. Ruffino of Bryan, Texas; sister-in-law, Carole Stone of Findlay, Ohio; brother-in-law, Ray Jojola of Georgetown, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their respective families.
Words of gratitude aren’t enough to thank Kitti and L.J. Ruffino for the lifetime of care and love given to Patti. Many thanks to the neighboring Court household, Shea Pustejovsky, and Connor Pustejovsky for the gifts, coloring sessions, patience, care and love. Special thanks to Patti’s new and old friends at MHMR, Sevita, and The Arc.
Memorials may be made in honor of Patti to Texas Self Advocates or Texas Special Olympics.
