My name is Robert Howard English, Sr. but most know me as Bob. Back in the day, I was known as “Bad Bob”. I never really thought of myself as bad but tough, yes. I was born in Glen Rose, Texas to Dr. Robert and Carlie English. My parents had four girls and then four boys (set of twins in each group). My Siblings are Lalla Shackleford (John), Jane Whitworth, Jean Gosdin (Larry), Tamara Vaughn (Ray), Roger (Debbie) my twin brother, Graham “Howie”, and Paul.
Our father was taken from us due to a violent crime and our mother somehow managed. To this day, I am amazed at the job she did. I for one, did not make it easy for her but will always appreciate her amazing strength of character.
Tragedy, is what led us to move to Bryan. I had a lot of fun “Bad Bob” times. Later, I would meet the prettiest young lady who for some reason was taken with me. I married Melanie Baggerly in 1986. We would bury our first child, my namesake in 1987. A few years later our amazing daughter Jane (Brian) was born. An off the charts child – I know everyone thinks theirs is but hey mine really is. Then a couple years later we were blessed with twin sons. They should have been named Bass Fisher and Deer Hunter but instead were named Clayton and Cameron. All three could survive an apocalypse, so very proud. Life is amazing and then you add our granddaughter, Bonnie. Now life is perfect. Along with great friends, nieces and nephews.
My passion in life was woodworking, I consider myself an artisan, fun in life was fishing and hunting, love of my life is my wife but my heart is my children.
Cancer sucks. One of our sons suffered but survived. I will not, or rather should say did not.
I offer a suggestion – stay away from tobacco- they make it so it’s hard to quit. Be strong.
My family would like to thank Acara Hospice for care they gave to me, and the support they gave to them.
Family will receive guests from 2 – 4 pm Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
