

Shirley K. Dunn, 87 of Bryan, passed away Tuesday morning April 7. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 13, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4221 Boonville Rd, Bryan, Texas. Service following at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Randy Bard officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas.
Shirley was born February 1, 1928 in New Braunfels, Texas to Sophie (Weidner) and Walter Kabelmacher. She graduated from News Braunfels High School and attended the University of Mary- Hardin Baylor. She married James D. Dunn, Sr. while he was attending Texas A&M College. After graduation, they moved to South Texas where he served as an engineer for the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S.D.A.
In 1954, Shirley and James moved to their ranch near Georgetown after both were diagnosed with polio. Shirley worked as a beautician, then owned and operated Shirley’s Coiffures for several years. She then served as the beautician at the Wesleyan Home in Georgetown until her retirement.
Shirley loved her family and traveling with friends. She shared her artistic talent by creating many landscape paintings and beautiful scenes of God’s creations. After moving to Bryan to be close to her son and daughter-in-law, Shirley became a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband James. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Dunn of Bryan, Texas, and Darrell and Patti Dunn of Geraldine, Montana; three grandsons, Douglas Dunn and his wife Kim of Mansfield, Texas, Jared Dunn of Bryan, and Ethan Dunn of Geraldine, Montana; and two great-granddaughters, Kameron and Kylie Dunn of Mansfield, Texas.
Memorials may be given in her honor to Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund or Lutheran Social Services of the South.
