Trudy was born October 20th, 1959 to the parents of A.C. & Shirley Lykins in Houston, Texas. She graduated from South Houston High School in 1978 and worked at Baskin Robbins where she got into a lot of whip cream fights. From there she worked for Al’s Formal Wear. She then decided to go into business for herself and opened an antique store in the Houston Galleria area and due to her love for pets she opened her own pet store.
A little story about this - One day she brought home a “pet” raccoon and had it for a few days. Her dad came home from work that day and she had the raccoon locked in the bathroom and its hands were reaching out from under the door. Her dad swore up and down she had a monkey in there told her to take that monkey back where she got it! She kept the raccoon for just a couple of days until it realized it liked coffee so in the morning it got up on the table and started drinking A.C.‘s coffee and when he tried to get it back from the raccoon it would hiss at him! That was the last time we saw that raccoon!
In 1993, Trudy sold her businesses and relocated to Caldwell to be closer to her parents and pursued a career in payroll for First American Bank.
On Feb 7, 1994 Trudy married William Skillern and they were married for 34 years. She had one son, Jason and two stepdaughters Ashley and Brittany.
In 2016 Trudy and William moved to Bryan College Station. She battled many serious heath conditions over the years, one being breast cancer that she beat! Trudy liked to bowl and she loved her dogs.
Trudy was predeceased by her dad A.C. Lykins.
She is survived by her husband William Skillern, mother Shirley Lykins, brother Allen Lykins, sister in law Deana Lykins, son Jason Graddy, step-daughters Ashley and Brittany, grandsons Ethan & Ezra and nephew Logan.
