

Virginia Gilmore, 71, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, November 20 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 21 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
Virginia was born March 20, 1939 in Kaufman County to Harlan and Bernice Barnes. She went to Terrell Texas schools until the 12th grade when she moved to Bryan where she graduated from Bryan High School in 1956. She later met and married Jack D. Gilmore. She worked for her husband Jack at Gilmore Electric as a secretary after her mother-in-law’s death. She also kept very busy raising children and staying involved in their lives. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and sang for both weddings and funerals. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to read and sing, especially gospel music, and anything with yodeling in it. She also loved to watch old westerns on t.v.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; and husband Jack Darrell Gilmore.
Survivors include her 2 daughters L. Lynne (Gilmore) Koenning and husband Wayne of Bryan, Jan E. (Gilmore) Berny and husband Billy of Abilene; 2 sons B. Phillip Gilmore and wife Denise, and Paul D. Gilmore and wife Terri, both of Bryan; brother Robert Barnes and wife Johnnie of Bryan; 2 sister-in-laws Judy Barnes of Dallas and Sylvia Gilmore of Richardson; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 more to be born.
