In the wake of Jan Ward...
 
Ripples on the water help me remember my friend, Jan Ward.  I was blessed to have followed in her "wake" on many community adventures.
 
The Tri-State was lucky to have had someone of her caliber work so hard on their behalf.  From the humble beginnings of the Boom Box Parade, the American Flags flying along Hwy 95, the holiday light display at MCC, to the beauty left behind by Project Bougainvillea; she left her stamp in a never ending list of places and hearts.  I will never see a bougainvillea in bloom without thinking of her and her indomitable spirit.
 
She touched this community in so many ways. Jan was a president of the Bullhead Chamber of Commerce, involved as a member of Community Pride Advocates, the Women's Council of Bullhead City, and the Foundation Board of Mohave Community College. Jan also served on the board of the Bullhead Regional Economic Development Authority, the Mayor's Task-force on Business Retention and Expansion, and a subcommittee on signage ordinances, while serving as a Council Member for Bullhead City.
 
Jan Ward was the winner of a Community Achievement Award in the public service category.  She was also recognized and honored by several other organizations for her dedication to this community.  The "list" of things she did and/or influenced is far beyond what most of us can imagine.  I have just scratched the surface.
 
On a personal note: I have known two TRUE "Ladies" in my life time.  Lady in the sense of poise, grace, intelligence, and great style.  One was my Grandmother -- the other was Jan Ward. 
 
I, and many others, will miss her greatly.  I shed quiet tears... but I know she went out confident that she did a good job.   Galen, her husband, and all of her children and grandchildren know it too.

Jan Ward was a wonderful mother, wife, friend and civic leader.  Bullhead City was lucky to have her choose it as her home.  I have known her since 1976 and she taught me so much.  We have lived life through births, divorces and deaths. She did it all with dignity and grace.   I send condolences to Sally, Galen and the rest of the family and to all those whose lives she touched in Bullhead City.  She will be missed by many.

The Stubblefield will truly miss Jan and her creative projects she founded to better our community.

Jan Ward has been my very dearest friend for over 50 years.  She was a warm and generous woman who was dedicated to helping others. It is with profound sadness and I say 'goodby' to such a wonderful woman.
