Douglas H. McMillen passed away on Saturday March 11, 2023 in the early afternoon after a short battle with esophageal cancer. Doug was born in Los Angeles and lived most of his life in Burbank, California. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he spent 30 years as a paramedic and ambulance driver for Los Angeles Fire Department. He was an expert on the surface streets of the city and retained his love of driving into retirement, ranging far and wide through the American West and across the country, visiting diners and baseball stadiums. A passion for public transportation meant that Doug would seek out interesting buses, trains, and ferries wherever he traveled. Doug loved traveling, visiting friends and family in Pennsylvania, Washington, England, and beyond whenever he got the chance. His hobbies also included bowling, cards, beautiful gardens, and classic television, especially Laurel and Hardy. Doug is survived by his brother Don and sister-in-law Fran, and an extended family of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at St Matthew's Church at 1920 Glenoaks Blvd, Glendale, California 91201 on April 8, 2023 at 11:00 am.
