She was born to the late Lin Hee Wong (mom) and Chang Kau (dad) in Honolulu on August 29th, 1929. She graduated from Farrington High School, Honolulu, class of 1947. Moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20. Married Robert (Uncle Bobby) Sung Chun Jr. in 1952.
Marian, worked for the Good Samaritan Hospital for 34 years. When she retired she was the payroll supervisor.
With her husband Uncle Bobby, the two were active in the creation of the Aloha Golf Club, The Hawaiian Business Men Association, The Hawaiian Inner Counsel, The Ho’olaulea, The Voice of Hawaii newspaper and the Nisei Hospitality Committee. Uncle Bobby and Aunty Marian traveled often to Honolulu, Vegas, San Francisco and Seattle.
Aunty Marian believed that practice makes perfect, that you should do your best work, and if you feel you can’t finish the work just get up earlier.
Aunty Marian is survived by her daughter (Barbara Ann) Aulani Chun, grandson Michael Sapp-Chun. Her surviving sisters are Evelyn, Lillian, Margie and her brothers are Clifford and Steven.
Celebration of Aunty Marian’s Life in Los Angeles is Saturday, January 19th, 2019 and in Honolulu on Saturday March 23rd, 2019.
