Ahlay, you have such a kind heart, devoting your life into the mental wellness community. You have taught me much in my teen years and I have carried the lessons from you onto other parts of my life. Thank you for all that you have taught me. May you rest in peace 🕯️

I was introduced to Ah-Lay through Ching. I became one of her board of directors and I slowly got to know her better. I learned that Ah-Lay, although she was already senior when I met her, she was a person who was very persistent,  decisive, strong personality and goal oriented person. She put her heart on what she did. She was a very strong leader and best of all a great mother to Marco.  She was always thinking of what's best for her son and his family.  It was a great pleasure to know Ah-Lay and was a great inspiration for me specially on how to run my own business. 

Ah-Lay will be missed in the organization she created but most importantly, she will be remembered as great mentor to the team.

May her soul rest in eternal glory 🙏🙏🙏

It is with a heavy heart that I learned of Ms. Arlay Chin’s passing on Thanksgiving. Her warm smile and kind voice still linger in my memory, as if we just spoke yesterday. Only a month ago, we were discussing plans for future projects, many of which will remain unrealized.

For over 30 years, Arlay dedicated herself to promoting mental health within the Chinese community. Even in her eighties, her passion, clarity of thought, and vibrant energy inspired everyone around her. She carried a youthful spirit that made us forget her age, leaving a lasting impression on all who met her.

On her very last day, Arlay gave her all to her work, leading an evening event to a perfect conclusion. Her unwavering commitment and generous spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.

May you rest in peace, dear Arlay. Your legacy will live on.

As for as I knew, Ahlay is a person full of energy and vitality in all of areas of life. She loves gardening, plants flowers. I helped her tilt the soil and purchasing the things she wanted to plant. Aside from being a hardworking lady, She is a caring, loving, thoughtful individual. I remembered one time, when she invited me out for dinner I wasn’t able to go with her, what she did, bought food for me when she came home and said “You didn’t come, so I just bring food for.”I was touched by that gesture. In other situation, when I feel pain in my body she listened to me and gave comforting words and advices. She’s like a mother to me. She really cares for me. It is not only me, she is good, kind and friendly to anybody she gets acquainted too. 
     On the other hand, I was meeting Ahlay’s family. Her son Marco, his wife and two grandchildren at Ahlay’s birthday and China Day. Like Ahlay, they are sweet and friendly people. I recalled, I went with Ahlay watched Mason played Hockey. I saw in her eyes proud of her grandson and very happy.
     So many memories with her. In 2017 I volunteered in her office to help in any tasks that needs to be done. I enjoyed working with her.
     My family and I really sad and lonely when she died. Ahlay, May you Rest In Peace.

In May 2020, I was introduced to Ahlay, and that marked the beginning of our four-year journey together. She tirelessly dedicated herself to CMWAC, working from early morning to late night. A tragic incident involving one of her colleagues had left a deep impact on her, shaping her deep concern for mental health. She hoped to raise awareness in the community and to support those struggling with mental health issues. Driven by a desire to prevent other families from enduring similar pain, she worked tirelessly within the community.

During the pandemic, even though most association activities had shifted online, she continued to organize in-person events, bringing warmth and comfort to everyone. Throughout the years I knew her, each of her birthdays was marked by a fundraising performance. The association, which has been active for nearly 30 years, has consistently provided help to the community despite facing challenges with funding and staffing. I am deeply grateful for Ahlay and the many supporters who have made the association a home for many.

My bond with Ahlay grew not only through our work in the association but also through sharing life experiences. From war, schooling, caring for her younger brother, working, being deceived, to holding up her family and later building an organization, I heard countless stories of her resilience and passion for life. All of these make her passing shocking and hard to accept, but I believe that her life has left a lasting impact on many, and the memories she created will live on. I will always remember Ahlay, someone who would call me at 2 a.m. or 5 a.m., someone who cared for and looked out for me.

RIP. Thank you for everything you did for the world.

We were introduced her through another friend during my visit to Vancouver and she came to see me during her visit to HK after the COVID.  I finally did a talk through zoom link 
She always wanted me providing more supports including clinical services for people in need 
I shall miss her deeply and am sure her  legacy will be continued as it is her wish to be able to help others with mental health and psychological health problems

Even though I haven't known Ahlay for a very long time, I was able to witness a warm, kind-hearted individual with a kind of passion and drive for community and charity work that I haven't seen in a long time. Ahlay truly made many sacrifices and dedicated a significant portion of her life to advocating for mental wellness and mental health, because she believed with every fiber of her being in what she is doing. That kind of spirit is definitely something we should all respect and model after. Our communities need more people like Ahlay Chin!

Ahlay, your passing was so sudden and I am still in shock, but I know that you would want nothing more than to see CMWAC thrive and make an even bigger positive impact on mental wellness and mental health in BC and beyond, so I will continue to contribute in the ways that I can to your legacy through CMWAC.

In Loving Memory of Sister Chen Yali

Sister Yali was always so kind and caring, treating everyone with warmth and thoughtfulness. When she found out that a close family member of mine was diagnosed with cancer, she called me multiple times, offering comfort and support. She gently encouraged me, hoping to ease my burden. She invited me more than once to sit down for a meal, just to chat and spend time together, but each time, overwhelmed by the fast pace of life, I politely declined.

She spoke to me with sincerity: “Taking the time to sit down, eat, and talk isn’t a waste—it’s a way to nourish the soul and maintain emotional well-being.” Her words carried such wisdom, reminding me that sharing and expressing our feelings is essential to inner health and growth.

After every event held by the emotional wellness association, she would always ask for my home address. She promised to find time to visit me in person. Even though she was never able to make it due to her busy schedule, she still sent gifts and cards, filling my home with her kindness. Every time I look at the photos we took together, I can’t help but burst into tears.

Sister Yali, I promise I will take good care of my emotional health, finding balance in life and living with intention. I will forever cherish your memory, carrying your kindness and wisdom with me as I walk through life. You are deeply missed.

Your compassion, dedication and heartily hardworking influence the community aware and make a huge leap on helping to those having mental health concerns.
