Alex will be deeply missed by his wife Doris, his children John (Christine), Rosemary (Christopher) and Mark (Nola), and his grandchildren Emily, Camille, Fiona (Abraham), Michael and Cameron and extended family and friends.
Alex was a man who embodied the word ‘gentleman’. As a physician, his gentle and healing ways and quiet words of comfort and compassion earned the loyalty and love of his patients. Whether arriving or departing, Alex never failed to greet Doris with a kiss. As a dad, he never had a harsh word for his three active children, and clearly found great joy in all they did. Alex always had a listening ear for his friends and made a point of seeking out those who were perhaps forgotten by others.
Alex was a man of faith and great personal integrity. He was a faithful supporter of youth and university work through Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, (specifically Pioneer Pacific Camp and SFU I.V.C.F.), as well as the Union Gospel Mission.
Alex had a passion for gardening, golf, sailing, travelling and his family. This was witnessed by the neatness and beauty of his yard, sailing journeys on Tradewind II, golfing on Fridays with his Killarney Park buddies and the planning of the annual May long-weekend family getaways.
It was while studying medicine at the University of Western Ontario, that Alex met the love of his life, Doris. He and Doris spent the next sixty-two years sharing the raising of their family and enjoying their many travel adventures together. They particularly loved their many cruises and happy holidays in Palm Springs, Great Britain and the Holy Land.
The Robertson family would like to extend their deep thanks to the caring BayCrest staff at Delta-View Life Enrichment Centre, for their gentle and thoughtful care of ‘Dr. Alex’, our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
[ Please join the family in celebrating the life of Alexander Leiper Robertson at Ocean View Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday Nov. 28th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers please make your charitable donation to Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship or Union Gospel Mission.]
