Angelina was born in Manila, Philippines, on September 6, 1933 to Encarnacion Poblete Yuvienco and Conrado Yuvienco. She is the eldest of six children and spent most of her childhood in Manila and Naic, in the province of Cavite, Philippines. Angelina completed her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines before starting her medical residency in Chicago in the late 1950s, where she met and married her partner in life, David Yang Gyu Kim.
Drs. Angelina and David Kim moved to Vancouver, Canada, in 1963 where they raised their four children. Throughout her life, Angelina was a dedicated and selfless mother, grandmother and most of all wife. She instilled in her children and all those around her a generous and compassionate spirit and a strong sense of family and responsibility. She was resourceful in every aspect of her life and had a contemplative wisdom that will be sorely missed.
Angelina is survived by her husband, David Yang Gyu Kim; her children, Linda, Paul, Catherine and Michelle; her grandchildren, Rebecca Mak, Sara Wong, Spencer Mak, Ronin Kung and Olivia Kung; and her siblings, Conrado (Jun) Yuvienco Jr, Elsie Belmonte, Eugenia (Gene) Godinez, Francisco (Boy) Yuvienco, and Oscar (Oca) Yuvienco.
The Kim family would like to thank St. Vincent’s: Brock Fahrni, for their care for Angelina during the past year, as well as Vancouver General Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to donate to the VGH Hospital Foundation or the Brock Fahrni St. Paul’s Foundation.
