Angelo Moretti

It’s with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Angelo Moretti. Angelo passed away at home at the age of 83. Surrounded by love, he passed peacefully just the way he wanted. Angelo fought a hard battle with cancer like a warrior, teaching his children and grandchildren the true meaning of strength.

Angelo was born in Celano, Italy, and came to Canada in 1959 making East Vancouver his home until his passing.

Angelo worked for many years at Cassiar Asbestos Mines in BC. In 1983, Angelo joined the Longshoreman’s Union ILWU Local 500 to provide for his family, retiring in 2004. Years later, Angelo was diagnosed with throat and colon cancer as a result of exposure to asbestos.

In his retirement, Angelo enjoyed spending his afternoons with his friends at Victoria Park playing bocce and cards as well as shopping for fruit on Commercial Drive and singing Italian music to his family. Angelo was truly one of a kind.

Angelo is predeceased by his son Rino, brother Adriano, sister Mary, and nephew Dino, we know they’re happy to have Angelo back with them.

Angelo is survived by his loving wife, Betty, of 59 years. Also, his loving & caring daughter Connie, son-in-law Brad, son Aldo, daughter-in-law Teresa, grandchildren Brandon, Marilyn, Brittany, Anil, Cody, and his great-grandson Dominic.

A special thank you to our mother Betty for your outstanding care and love of our dad. We could not have made it through this hard time without you.

Thank you to Bruno & Maryanne Testini and Pasqual Maiolino for your loyalty, visits, card games, and laughter with Angelo even when he was not feeling the greatest.

Thank you to our cousin Maria for all your support and for checking in on your Zio daily. He loved you more than you know.

Thank you to Dr. Thauli, and all the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic for the care you provided to our dad.

And finally, thank you Daddy for all the filet mignon and Cadillacs. You fought for us every step of the way, we will miss you greatly and keep you in our hearts forever.
