Anna emigrated from Italy in 1961 with her trademark courage and optimism, both of which lasted a lifetime. She settled in North Vancouver, B.C., with her late-husband, Daniele. Anna’s pride was in allowing others to shine, especially her children, Mauro, George, Sandra and Roberto (Bob), where she found her greatest joy. She created a loving, supportive home that fuelled the belief that no dream was beyond one’s reach. She was the cheerful “Auntie Anna” to family and everyone she so easily drew near, always ready to help those in need with a helping hand or an open ear. Many will remember her brilliant sewing that saw many graduating students, wedding parties, family and friends look beautiful. Her retirement years were in rhyme with those of Daniele: focused on home, faith and family, and traveling to be with those far away. Anna had many roles caring for others throughout her life before she so-gracefully allowed others to care for her in her later years. She is survived by her four children and five grandchildren, Sara, Natasha, Jake, Emma and Mackenzie. Her contributions will continue to inspire the Chiesa family, led by her two brothers-in-law, Remo and Leo and their respective wives, Clara and Rosanne.
Please join in honouring Anna. Services will include a prayer service on Jan. 7, 2014 at 7 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Church in North Vancouver (entrance on 2446 Mountain Hwy), followed by a funeral mass, also at St. Stephen’s, on Jan. 8th, 2014 at 11 a.m., to be followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the Chiesa family requests that donations in memory of Anna Maria Chiesa be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. (www.heartandstroke.com).
