I'm sorry to hear of Aunt Bernice's passing, she was such a nice person. I'm glad I had a chance to visit with her a bit at the family reunion this summer. With sympathy to Russ, Mike, janet, Neil and families from the Newmans.

While I probably have the fewest memories out of all grandma's grandchildren, the memories I do have are some of the most enjoyable times of my life.
 
As a young boy our families trips to Canada were always the highlight of my year. I couldn't wait to see Grandma and Grandpa at the airport. I remember the great affections with which grandma greeted us, always showing her caring and loving nature.
 
Grandma always spoilt us Weatherley boys with great gifts and fantastic cooking. The cherry tree out the back of the Burnaby house made for some delicious dishes, though I fear we ate more of the cherries ourselves than actually made it into Grandmas cooking.
 
I think Grandma's most enduring impression on me was to teach me respect, good manners and the importance of family. She cared for us all very deeply and though she could be stern when we misbehaved, we was always fair.
 
I was lucky enough to visit Canada in the winter of 2008 and lucky enough to spend some more time with Grandma. As always, she cleaned us all out when she wond at cards. We had a great Christmas together and I will treasure it forever. I loved Grandma and will mes her dearly.

It was a great shock to hear the terrible news of my Grandma's passing. 

Although us Weatherleys made quite a few trips back to Canada over the years, I never got to know Grandma as much as i would have liked. I feel a bit cheated by that. I would have loved to spend more time with her as an adult and get to know her better as a person. I am quite jealous of everyone who knew her better than I.
 
I guess a lot of us may have feelings such as these. Her passing was so unexpected I know I for one thought Id still get more of a chance. At the same time I feel so thankful for the great times we did have and that I was privledged enough to know her at all. I have fond memories of running a muck at the Banning residence in Burnaby as I know my brothers do. Running out in the snow with bare feet in the new PJs Grandma an Grandpa gave us, building snowmen and sledding down the hill next to their house. I remember sling shots, pool, card games, water pistols, climbing trees, eating cherrys till we felt sick and raiding gardens for beans and other treats. Grandma's cherry pie was legendary and I loved sitting around their fireplace on a cold winters night as a family. It was always a treat to be there and hang out with them.
 
I miss you dearly Grandma. I am comforted knowing you are back at Grandpas side and you are watching over us.

It was with great sadness that we heard of my Aunt Bernice's passing. We will all miss her very much. She is the last of that great Mullan clan. I had a nice phone conversation with Aunt Bernice a few months ago and she came up to Salmon Arm for a visit a few years ago. I have fond memories of many visits to her house in Burnaby to watch the Grey Cup. The Gregory family, Campbell family and Banning family spent several fun camping trips together in the 60s-70s and we will cherish those memories. It seems to be the end of an era. Aunt Bernice was a kind lady and we will miss her smile and laughter. I want to express our sincere condolences to her children Russ, Mike, Janet and Neil and their families. From Brian, Sheila and Dick.

My father, Denis McKeown, asked me to pass along his condolences to Bernice Banning's family. He would like very much to be at the memorial service but is currently in Mesa, Arizona. He has many fond memories of Bernice and was very sad at her passing. 

I would also like to offer my condolences to the family. Although it has been quite a few years since I have seen her, I was sorry to hear the news. May the many fond memories, close friends and prayers bring comfort.

When I think of my first memories of Grandma Banning, I think of a warm loving household on the hill in Burnaby, always being so full from eating, and always happy. Despite having to deal with the multitude of grandchildren running through the house, picking cherries, and trampling in the garden, she always managed to love us all and keep a relatively cool head. I will never forget the fun times we had.
 
Whilst my wife, Erica and I have not seen Grandma for a few years now, we enjoyed our last time in Vancouver and our visits to see her. Grandma will always hold a special place in all of her grandchildren's hearts and we will always be thankful to have shared time with her.
