Born in Regina, SK, daughter of Hannah (Holly) and Albert Simkin and sister of Irene Moyer, Donald Simkin, and Barbara Day. Audrey and her husband Tom Cook (d. 1983) made their home and raised their family in Vancouver. Mother to five children – Phillip (Cynthia), Gordon, Terry (Brian), Patrick (Fanta) and Jo-Anne (Mike) – Audrey took special pride in her 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Jeffery, Carly, Ali, Jamie, Cody, Sam, Imran, Khadim and Tamar.
In her final years, Audrey was lovingly cared for by Virginia Ordono, a woman of great kindness and compassion. A graduate of Lord Byng High School, Audrey enjoyed time with her many friends, sports, volunteer work, travels abroad, and watercolours. Audrey was an active member of Shaughnessy, the Arbutus Club, and the North Shore Group, spending many hours playing the sports she loved with the friends who loved her. White tennis dress on, pedal to the metal, Audrey lived a rich and full life.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2015 at Ryerson United Church, 2195 W 45th Ave, Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Tom and Audrey Cook Youth Development Memorial fund at the YMCA of Vancouver.
