You will be missed, but always remembered. Battista passed away surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Survived by his wife Santina, sons Ivano (Patricia), Bruno (Cindy) and his daughter Linda, his sister Maria (predeceased by Gianni), 9 grandchildren; Katy, Michael, Andrew, Alex, Kyra, Matthew, Christopher, Katy and Duncan, 3 great grandchildren; Lucas, James and Sophia, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and cherished friends. Survived by his family in Italy, sister Lina (Andrea) and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Giacomo and Gina and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Battista found great joy in the company of his family and friends. Whether he was at family gatherings, Sunday picnics at Confederation Park, or time in the Osteria at the Italian Cultural Centre. Battista was born in Cartigliano, Vicenza Italy and came to Canada in 1956. Santina followed him in 1959 and together they spent 57 happily married years together. Battista was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was instrumental in the running and maintenance of the church for the last 50 years. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and very involved with the Italian community, even helping with the building of the Italian Cultural Centre, where he is an honorary lifetime member. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29th at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings St. Burnaby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30th, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver. A reception will follow in the basement of the church followed with the Entombment at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation in Battista's memory to the charity of your choice.
